This is a two-minute read.
How do you set up your day?
My morning ritual is the backbone of my day, and it starts with greeting the sun.
I stand a little bit taller when I commit to doing what is good and kind to my physical and emotional body and preparing it for the day. The ritual of greeting the sun is about taking a few moments to sit as the sun peeps over the horizon.
Notice how your body and mind is reacting to the day. You may be feeling spirited, uplifted, and energetic or you may be feeling peaceful, reflective and calm, or you may feel something in-between. Choose your sun adventure based on your energy.
Spirited day (30 mins)
Walk towards the sun and count your steps inhaling and exhaling in rhythm with your steps. Bringing the body into alignment with the breath is dancing with cancer. Choose to create a strong rhythm with your walk and commit to the pace that you choose. Keep the breath flowing
Centred (15 mins)
Walk towards the sun and count your steps inhaling and exhaling in rhythm with your steps. Create a gentle rhythm using your breath to power each step.
Peaceful day (5 mins)
Sit somewhere in a chair or on the ground or over a bolster when the sun can kiss your face. Inhale and exhale to an even count (inhale for four, exhale for four) longer or shorter if you need.
There is no one way to greet the sun. It is the commitment to the ritual that contributes to the notion that you love yourself, and you are worth the time it takes to spend on yourself.
